Getting Started

This guide takes you from a fresh account to a working team setup.

Create an account

You can sign in to SyncContact in three ways:

  • Email and password — sign up with your email address; you'll receive a confirmation email to verify it.
  • Sign in with Google — use your Google account. This also makes it easy to connect Google Contacts later.
  • Sign in with Trello — use your Trello account. If your team already works in Trello, this is the fastest path: SyncContact picks up your Trello workspaces automatically (see Trello Integration).

Forgot your password? Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page to receive a reset email.

The first-time tour

On your first sign-in, a short wizard introduces the basics:

  1. Welcome — a quick overview of the app.
  2. Time Lines — an introduction to Timespace, the multi-timezone view.
  3. Invite team members — add your teammates right away, or skip and do it later from your workspace page.

Key concepts

A few terms you'll see everywhere:

  • Contact — a person, with their phone numbers, emails, addresses, notes, and full change history.
  • Address book — a collection of contacts. You get a private personal address book automatically; workspaces add shared address books.
  • Workspace — your team's home. It owns the shared address books and the team roster. See Workspaces.
  • Device — a phone or computer you've connected via device sync, so contacts appear in its native Contacts app.

Finding your way around

The top bar is your main navigation:

  • The address book selector switches between your address books (personal, shared, Google, Trello).
  • The workspace selector switches between workspaces and opens the workspace's settings.
  • The Devices button opens device sync setup.
  • The What's new icon shows product announcements, and the Help & Support icon points you at the SyncContact team (see Help & Support).

Suggested first steps

  1. Invite your team from your workspace's Members tab.
  2. Add or import contacts — create them by hand or import a vCard file (see Contacts & Address Books).
  3. Set up device sync so your contacts show up on your phone (see Device Sync).
  4. Connect Google or Trello to pull in the contacts you already have (see Google Contacts and Trello Integration).
