Device Sync (CardDAV)

Device sync puts your SyncContact address books into the native Contacts app on your phone or computer. Your customers show up in your dialer with their names, calls get identified, and edits you make on the device sync back.

Under the hood this uses CardDAV, the open standard for contact sync, so it works with the contacts apps you already have — no extra SyncContact app to install.

Connect a device

  1. Open Devices from the top bar.
  2. Create a device and give it a name ("Anna's iPhone", "Work laptop"). Each device gets its own sync credentials — a username and a generated password.
  3. Use Copy all to grab the server address and credentials, or scan the QR code for quick setup.
  4. Follow the setup guide for your platform (below) and paste the credentials into the account settings.

Because every device has its own password, you can disconnect a lost phone without touching your other devices — just delete that device in SyncContact.

Setup guides

The Devices page has step-by-step guides for:

  • iPhone / iPad — added as a CardDAV account in iOS Settings; contacts appear in the built-in Contacts app.
  • Android — via a CardDAV sync app such as DAVx⁵, which plugs your SyncContact books into Android's contact storage.
  • Mac — added as a CardDAV account for the macOS Contacts app.
  • Outlook — via a CardDAV plugin profile.

Any other CardDAV-capable client (Thunderbird, various mobile apps) works with the same server address and credentials.

What syncs

  • Every address book you can access — personal, shared workspace books, and connected integrations — is available to sync.
  • Sync is two-way: edits made on your device flow back to SyncContact and to your teammates, and their changes reach your device.
  • New teammates and new customers added by anyone on the team appear on your phone automatically.
